During a business trip to China, lawyer Jack Moore (Richard Gere) seduces a beautiful Chinese model and they end up at a hotel room together. In the morning Jack wakes up covered in blood and the model is dead. He is charged with rape and murder but has no memory of what happened. His only hope of escaping death penalty lays with his Chinese lawyer (Bai Ling).
